Case Studies: Radiograph Management

The Problem
The NRC requires nuclear sites to X-Ray welds during construction
and whenever certain plant modifications are performed as a part
of the permanent record. Over the years, sites generate literally
millions of radiographs and must maintain them in a regulated,
safe and efficient manner. As with many other document types,
different vendors transmit these documents to document control
in many different ways. And, over ten, fifteen, twenty years,
these radiographs dominate an enormous portion of the vault. With
millions of images that are required to be kept on file for the
life of the plant plus an additional 100 years, storage space
becomes precious and organizational challenges become complicated.
Many solutions that are readily available for paper documents
simply cannot be applied to radiographs due to the dynamic nature
of the type of information recorded on these images.
The Solution
NAC International teamed with F.Y.I Image to provide an immediate
solution that provides long-term, cost-effective storage and maintenance
of Radiographs. Our solution will organize, index, microfilm,
and/or digitize your radiographs. Our solution will also enhance
the manner in which images are retrieved and maintained in comparison
to the current processes being utilized.
The Benefits
The utilization of the F.Y.I micrographic solution to organize,
index, microfilm and/or digitize the radiographs will provide
efficiency improvements along with presenting added value to the
EDMS investment. Additional benefits include the following:
